Cheetah are so endangered – because of being shot by farmers – that their gene pool is tragically depleted and there are less than 10,000 left in the wild.

I’ve seen most of my cheetah sightings on the plains of the Masai Mara and the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem of Tanzania and Kenya is one of the two remaining strongholds for the global cheetah population.

In 2013, after more than 25 years of studying cheetah in the Serengeti, the Mara Cheetah Project began with assistance from the Kenya Wildlife Trust.

How you can help….

There are several ways in which you can support the Mara Cheetah Project:

1. Make a donation
2. Report a cheetah sighting

This exquisite animal can survive and this is my reminder to you that we must never take for granted the wonderful moments on safari when  you see a cheetah in the wild.  It doesn’t happen often enough though.
